Here it is:
Three Letter Acronyms
I've seen questions posted asking what certain acronyms mean and I'm not aware of a good answer on this forum... So I thought I would offer my own. I'm sure I've left many out so let me know and I'll add them. Also please point out any errors.
Several people have requested that I add general Internet acronyms. Instead of cluttering up this post, I've created a new thread for those.

Here is a site with a good photography dictionary:
http://photonotes.org/dictionary/
C&C = Critique and comment (I think) However, on this site, cash and carry may be more appropriate.
POTN = Photography-on-the.net (this site)
P&S = Point and shoot
PS = Photoshop
USM = Ultrasonic motor (focusing motor in some Canon lenses)
EXIF = Exchangeable image file (but generally used to refer to shooting data that can be stored in an image file)
IS - Image stabilization (in Canon lenses)
IQ = Image quality
ISO = International Organization for Standardization (I'm assuming that in the Swiss language the order of words actually is I-S-O) - generally refers to film speed standards or their digital equivalents.
EDIT: I must really slow at typing while watching baseball. There were no replies to this message when I started.

Panning is good, as long as the photo turns out...
Search the threads of panning and you'll see some good examples of this technique.
I know, terrible source, but here's an excerpt from Wikipedia:
In photography, the panning technique is used to suggest fast motion, and bring out foreground from background. In photographic pictures it is usually noted by a foreground subject in action appearing still (i.e. a runner frozen in mid-stride) while the background is streaked and/or skewed in the apparently opposite direction of the subject's travel.

Thanks! It's true though... any photo is good, as long as it turns out... now, how well is the photo conveying it's message? That's what we try to do right? Send a message without the use of words?
