There was an outdoor Jazz concert it was starting to get dark by the time I took this shot. This one was at iso 400, f 5.6 1/50

on edit, forgot to mention the group, it is Dotsero

hey big mike... I'm glad you have taken the plunge into the world of concert photography. :D

You did a great job capturing a lot of energy and emotion! (especially given what you had to work with) However, I think a lot of that emotion was lost in all of the unnecessary clutter and non-theme building stuff (for lack of better words) : )

I think a simple crop would be more than enough to bring out the stuff that really matters and get rid of the junk that doesn't. I can hear a voice from my past saying: "Fill the frame with the subject." :D

Here's an example of what I'm suggesting: (I took about 10 seconds to edit this... I'm sure with a little thought you could get something a lot better)

I truly hope this feedback isn't insulting... I'm new here and definitely don't want to start by pissing anyone off. ;)

So far so good!
Which lens did you use?

Cropped version is better: I agree that "all of the unnecessary clutter" is distracting.
Difficult to get a decent shot in circumstances like that...

Next time you might want to kneel down, so you get more of the tent roof as a background, and less clutter.

Agree the crop is better without all the clutter. Nothing you can do about the clutter, other than look for a better angle and take tighter shots.

Thanks I like the crop better I can see what you are saying about the clutter. I have some others that I will work on.

The pic was taken with the sigma 17-70

Here is another one I like the look on his face, there is some motion blur. I should have bumped up the ISO a little more.
