I went and tried shooting volleyball for the first time. As always the first time you shoot an event sucks. I was at the wrong angle and didn't know what shots to look for. Well I'll be better next time. I couldn't follow the ball with the camera, I had to pick a player who would get the ball alot. I also needed a lower angle I think. I didn't like shooting down all the time and the net was blocked by an official. The seats to either side were full so I was dead center above the net.

I was also trying out the 1d MIII in servo mode for the first time. It took me some fiddling with settings before it started performing ok. I'm waiting for firmware 1.1.1 like everyone else.

I didn't get any shots I was proud of, but here are 2. No pping except to downsize and crop the 2nd a little. They were at 3200 ISO.

I like #1 even without ball. The angle is interesting.

I agree. Whoever said all sports shots need a ball is crazy. :p

nice shots. your 3200 looks better than my 10D's 1600 :-( maybe even my 800 and 400...I think I need a mk3 as well :-D
