There used to be a place like that near Toronto, but it was torn down a couple years ago.

In fact, I'm pretty sure the first Billy Talent (Canadian music group) video was filmed there.

Are you thinking of Whitby Psychiatric Hospital? Two of the original buildings still stand, the rest were demo'd and a new hospital built - Ontario Mental Health Centre I think it's called. On the lake west of the harbour.
