I'm so new at this, so I'm kind of embarrassed to ask. I really am just now learning my camera but I came across the car photos in this forum and got an idea to take some pics of my husband's corvette for him. They would be great framed in our family room (basement play room sorta set up- Not our living room, lol). So, I'm wondering if you can offer any advice on how to get some good shots of the vette...time of day, camera settings, location, etc....

no ned to be embaresed.
were all here to help and give Idea.
first off try taking photo in the morning or afternoon or in the evening.
for back ground im not sure why not post a picturethen someone can do some heavey duty Post Processing. give it a shot.
as for camera setting try and using as many diffrent setting some say rule of thumb is f/8. it really depnds on the out come if you are using Digital SLR it wont hurt to shoot as many as you like as you can delete the one to your dislikeing.
so go and shoot and post a picture.

Well, just being a Corvette kinda guy I have to ask, what year Corvette and what color? Once I have those answers I can direct you to some pictures to help you get some ideas. Some of the best angles however is to get as low to the ground as you can to see at least three of the wheels if not all four. IMO this always looks great.

to recreate environment and background :
Tripod + AV mode + 10 sec. counter + ISO 100
Others solution:
Tripod + Manual + F7.1 + Adjust shutter to meter
If you do not have a tripod, you will be limited when shooting at dawn or dusk.
You can use:
P mode @ ISO 100,400,800, even 1600 if you have to, because you don't have IS or tripod.
