Not sure if I change something somewhere in my camera or CS but I would like to know when you shoot a photo file @ Large jpeg fine what is the image size when you're using CS?
Everything I shoot has been coming up as resolution 180 pixels/inch 11x17 inches is this common?
It could be me but I want to make sure.
Thanks

I don't know if the default can be changed or not, but I get the same 180 from my DRebel and PS Elements.

Images come out of your camera as a certain number of pixels wide by a certain number of pixels high. That's it.
Your image editing software will assign a resolution to those pixels and display them based on whatever that resolution is. At 100 pixels per inch, a 3,000 X 2,000 pixel photo will end up as a 30 inch X 20 inch image, or as a 10 inch by 6.67 inch photo at 300 pixels per inch.
You are able to change the default settings in PS. I have mine set at 100 pixels/inch so that I automatically open at screen resolution to best determine my sharpening settings (even though I do that much later in the process).

I've also read that 150 pixels/inch is really where you want the resolution for printing to give photo-esque results....though I've no doubt slightly less would work OK too.
Printers will typically have a max res they can deliver, so above this would be a waste of time.
