Hello,
I am an user of Canon S40. Is there a way that I could take pictures of a few pages in a book with coloured pictures and some text instead of using a scanner?
I tried using the auto mode but the pictures and text turned out to be blurred.
What settings should I used?

How exactly are you trying to do it? In general, you'll want a tripod and a bright room, so that you don't have to use the flash. Auto mode should be fine, but I like to use Program AE for everyday photography. It's virtually the same thing, but gives you manual control if you need it.

You'll need to switch to macro mode so that the camera can focus properly. You can get up to a few inches away at full wideangle, or a few feet at full zoom.
