Hello people,
I bought a remote (Infra Red type) for my EOS400D but can't get it to work. I'm setting the camera to timer/remote control but the remote doesn't do anything. So either I'm doing something wrong or the remote is faulty.
Any ideas?
btw..I've done the old trick of transmitting the remote into a video camera and confirmed it is transmitting infra red signals.
Cheers! ;)

Hopefully this is a stupid question, but you are in front of the camera when you try to use it?

The remote is line of sight - like the TV remote . You have to be able to see the lens glass or at least the remote does .

Hi,
Thanks for the replies. Yes, I am in front of the camera (even tried the back..lol) and am aware of the IR receiver on the front, as per manual. Have aimed it straight and every other angle, near and far. All to no avail.
Oh well.

Do you have the drive mode set to remote operation?

Yes, I have it set to remote operation in drive mode. Think the remote is just a pile of junk.

Sorry, I missed that in your original posting. I hadn't any caffiene when I read it. Hopefully you can return it for a new one. Good luck.
