Tamron hood problem

The hood of my 28-75 does not seem to lock into place correctly. The white dot and the empty white dot do not line up after you rotate. It is about half a centremeter off, and when you look at the lens the hood seems slightly off center. Do you think it matters or should I return it to the shop and go complain?
