Hey there,

I've been looking at doing a couple of evening courses for some time now. The one that i think that will be best suited is the City and Guilds.

I'm just not to sure if i should be doing level 1 or 2. I've been shooting stuff for quite some time, i still need a little help when it comes to exposure, and i have little to no knowadge of how to use a flash gun properly. I've got the creative eye but need help on tecneque.

The last time i did any photo training was back in school 12 years ago.

My main goal is to becoame a full time paid photographer, doing weddings for most of the ££'s.

With that in mind can someone who has done either of these 2 course's sujuest of i should go for level 1 or 2 to start.

Cheers

i take it you're UK based? (i'm just assuming city and guilds is a UK only thing)

i don't know anything about those courses in general.
however, if you want to avoid the art side of it - pretentiously over analysing other peoples work. (don't shout at me )
look into specialist wedding photography course, there's loads of them about.
and you'll learn what you need to know, and nothing else.

but with the lovely world wide web, you could learn all that yourself, with the right motivation, in quite a short period of time.

hope that helps somehow.

Ryan.

cheers ryan, i love photos and love looking a photo's, but i don't like writing essays about photos, or essays about anything. I'm a kinesthetic learner so i would need a practical course............ i would proberly do a wedding spacific course on the side, but i'm mainly looking for a course to pollish up my skills.

looks like you want to avoid the city and guilds, or the a-level, or even the btec then.

i'm with you on this, i study a level photography, but hate it, i'm not interested in the art scene of it, more the technical side of photography.

don't get me wrong though, i still appreciate a 'beautiful photo'

anyway, yeah, research into the wedding courses, i'm sure there'll be a local one.

HI,

Like you I have been looking to improve my photography skills as well. Not wanting to get beck into the more Academic side I have joined my local Photography Society. Here I will get tuition in Studio work, hear talks on different aspects of the creative side, nature, use of PS, and most importantly take part in club competitions. There is also a wealth of knowledge amongst the members. I would recommend joining the local society (being in London there must be a few around).
