Unfortunately i missed my local Trackrod Rally this weekend although it looks like there was plenty of others there for it, but the good news is i was in Spain for WRC Rally Catalunya. Had an awesome time and thoroughly recommend it to anyone. Very good stages full of crazy Spaniards who love their rallying and very good weather too. Got about 2000 pics to go through but here's a few. All comments welcome.

some nicely composed shots, nice when you have some excellent backdrops to make your images even nicer.
what a lot of people don't appreciate is how difficult rally photography can be, you only see the cars once, unlike circuit racing where you see them time and time again.
even more so when you are being paid to shoot, you can't really afford to go with a 1/50th pan can you?

if number 6 was a tad bit lighter it would be perfect. number 5 is also really good.

These are all bang-on, nice job matey. Really like your low angle you have shot from, #1 is a cracker IMO.
If I was to say one thing then it'd maybe be about the inside pan shots - maybe a slower shutter speed could have been used to blur the background more. Still, they only come past once so you want to get the shot :)

Cheers Azza, yes i know what you mean about the slower shutter speed but as you say you only see them once and it was along way to go and not get them right so stayed abit conservative

Rally Australia 2008 - official CAMS release
Written by Official Release
Wednesday, 24 October 2007
Following a request received by i-METT Queensland Group Pty Ltd, the promoters of the Australian round of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), CAMS has submitted a formal request to the FIA seeking a postponement of the first Queensland event until 2009.
In October 2006, CAMS reached agreement in principle with i-METT to promote and organise Australia's WRC round and a five year agreement (with two five year options) was subsequently signed by both CAMS and i-METT in March of this year.
Since that time, CAMS officials have been developing the sporting aspects of the event. A highly skilled and experienced team comprising senior rally personnel from Queensland and the former Rally Australia team in Western Australia has made significant progress in preparation for a September 2008 event.
In addition to promoting the WRC round, i-METT also proposes to develop a large tourism precinct in South East Queensland, comprising an international standard motor racing circuit, theme park, hotels, automotive technology park and education facilities.
As part of its due diligence process, CAMS required, and was provided with, proof of i-METT's funding for the overall project, estimated to cost in the vicinity of $650 million (Australian dollars). The World Rally Championship project is closely linked to the construction and completion of the overall i-METT project, which in turn is dependent upon various Government approvals that are being progressed but have not yet been granted.
Whilst the receipt of this request is extremely disappointing to CAMS, having regard for the timing imperatives, CAMS believes that the request by i-METT to postpone the first Queensland event until 2009 is in the best interests of the FIA World Rally Championship, Australia's standing in the eyes of the world's motor sport community and the long term future of rallying in Australia.
"CAMS will continue to work with all parties to retain Australia's place in the FIA World Rally Championship calendar and to support the development of a world class motor sport precinct," said CAMS President Colin Osborne.
