Hey guys, I have these frequent flyer points, hotel points, etc etc so I think I'll take a 3-4 day trip. I'm working on adding a 100-400l to the kit before my mini-vacation, but I'm looking for suggestions on where to go. I can get anywhere I desire within the contiguous US. Unfortunately no Alaska or Hawaii yet.

So where's a great spot? Anything off the beaten path? Upper Northwest? Big Bend ntl park? NM? CO? MO?

I'd appreciate any help / recommendations so I can get this photography trip booked!

Thanks,
Adam

I can only tell you where I've been, but there are some awesome photographic opportunities to be had in a cruise on Lake Powell, out of Page, AZ. Also you might consider Zion National Park.

I'm on a 6 month jaunt around the US at the moment & up to now I've travelled across from Florida to San Francisco. Best place by far up to now has been Southern Utah & it's beautiful canyons. You could do far worse than get yourself to St. George, rent a car & explore the various National Parks which lie close by, Bryce & Zion in particular? I'm in San Francisco at present & there's no shortage of great photographic opportunities, maybe some great shots around the city then rent a car & take a trip out to Yosemite for some great landscapes?

Have a great time wherever you decide to go!

Paul

Thanks for the ideas... I need to go look into Utah and this Zion park... I've never heard of it (down here in flat-a$$ Ft. Worth TX) :)

Time to do some web searching...

Thanks again

For sure Southern Utah. Zion, Arches, Canyonlands National parks....Monument Valley. Dead Horse Point State Park is a pocket sized grand canyon.l Black Canyon of the Gunnison is nearby southern Colorado is great too.

I agree with the previous post-ers about the beauty of Southern Utah's national parks. What the hey-- as long as you're going that way, take it a few hours west and get the total opposite by stopping in Vegas! From there, it's not far to Hoover Dam and then to the Grand Canyon.

From a "frequent flyer" standpoint, you'd probably have to use Salt Lake City and/or Las Vegas airports. Perhaps flying to Vegas and renting a car would be the ticket.

You may want to consider the eastern shore of Virginia here's a link to assateague island an exciting and interesting place - lots of wildlife, fauna, and quaint old homesteads in the area and some of the nicest people you will find anywhere - and I'm not from there I live in the tidewater area (Newport News) but was very impressed with the area.

Definately the place to go is San Francisco / Bay area.

Rent a car:

- Coastal areas
- City Shots
- Fog across the bay
- Deep red-wood forrests (Mier Woods)
- Couple hours away from Yosemite
- Carmel by the sea

You pretty much get City / Landscape and everything inbetween.

If you want to specialize on something then you could go to specific places (Alaska, Death Valley, Las Vegas , etc)

Another good idea might be to do iceland THis time of year it's sunny most of the day (which is like 20 hours or something). Check out luminous landscape for their iceland trip a couple of years ago.
