I shoot events with two identical camera bodies (1D Mark III :D ). Is there a program that can rename the photos based on the time they were taken? In other words I am looking for something to batch rename the photos from my two bodies so they are renumbered according to the time they were taken.

Lightroom will do it. Also the free tool EXIFer.

I use Lightroom to do this.

I use DIM4 by Alan Light. Easy to use, and pretty quick. I like it.

Most programs that will import have a 'rename on import' option. I use pixfer for my importing (its nice automatically backing up over the network while importing) but lightroom/bridge, etc etc all do it as well.

Photo Mechanic will do it too. Next to that, it can also synch times on photos, so they can match. Sometimes this can be quite helpfull.

Downloader Pro from Breeze Systems can do this as you download. It can also name the photos using the camera's serial number (which it reads from the EXIF) or attach a user-defined tag based on model or serial number.
