View Full Version : CS3 question regarding Feather Tool

In any of the prior versions of Photoshop I've used, if I selected an image area including image borders, and then feathered whatever amount, the feathering applied only to selection boundaries within the image, not along the edges.
For some incomprehensible reason, CS3 now seems to feather the edges of the image along with the area within the image.
Does anyone know if there's some option to turn off edge feathering, or some other solution?

Did you reverse the selection perchance?

no, I'm talking about unwanted feathering around the borders/edges of an image.

The behaviour of the Feather tool in Photoshop CS3 is as you say. The solution is to use the new Refine Edge tool (Select Menu) to feather your selection - a feather applied using Refine Edge doesn't feather at the edge of the image.
