I met Paul at the Harper Road Cruise just before the thunderstorm hit. No, the Woodward cruise isn't the only one we have here!
Paul's'72 Plymouth Duster has a stroked 340 @ 360cid. Some additions are a .560" lift cam, dual-quad carbs, & Hooker headers.
It has a 2800 stall converter & 4.56 rear end.
He found it in a barn (340 4-speed! What a crime!), did all the work himself, & drives it 200 miles/year locally.

IMO, this is how a "working motor" should look?

glad that somebody rescued from obscurity in a barn. Yes! I wish I'd had a barn to keep mine in! :D

Yes! I wish I'd had a barn to keep mine in! :D yes, some keep theirs in spare garages if they can
my sister and her husband had their old flash red car something like this one in their garage for years
nearly killed him when he had to sell it (maybe for 'his/her space')
lol
I best love the third and fourth shots you show Frank
all great though

Oh, man, I had a 73 duster. I still remember that car. It was my sister's but she moved into Manhattan and couldn't keep it so gave it to me. I totalled it on a snowy road one day. Still miss it.

Oh, man, I had a 73 duster. I still remember that car. Which is why car meets are so popular here. ;)

Hi Frank, Nice pic's of my Brother Pauls "Sox and Martin" tribute car. He really busted his rear building this car and he did it on a very limited budget. Lots of people really like the car dispite the "low buck" investment. Sunday nite he won a plaque for "best in class" at Wild Woody's (a local cruise spot}. Thanks again for the great pictures of his car.....he will be happy to see them online!

Sunday nite he won a plaque for "best in class" at Wild Woody's I said Hi! there, but didn't stay 'till the end. If the weather is good, I'll be back next week.
Interesting Pro street Lancer in your site! I haven't seen it around & I love those "Mutts"! Have you seen this '62 Dodge Dart (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?p=3754144)? the crime is its only driven a few hundred miles a year! ;) I'm guessing that a 4.56 rear end & dual-quads will put it in the 4mpg bracket? Paul lives in an area where there are evening meets just a few miles away, so some of these guys get out a lot, but don't have to put many miles on them.
Thanks for the comments!

Nice pics, I really like them, but what a crap car. I owned a ’72 duster, puke green. Course, it wasn’t the 340 but this car single handedly turned me off to Chryslers and almost all American cars. It rattles like a bunch of bolts in a coffee can which it basically was, the trunk leaked any time it rained and at times I had ½ of water in there, the electrical system fried one day for no apparent reason, and the automatic choke was a joke. I had to replace it with a manual choke just so I could start the thing in the winter. And one more thing, the heater sucked. It either cooked your feet or froze them, nothing in between.
On the positive side It had a rubber foot operated bulb for a window washer and you could direct the spray to any spot on the windshield depending on the amount of foot pressure you applied. This cam in real handy for tailgates as a solid stamp on the bulb would shoot a stream right over the top of the car covering the windshield behind you.

...but what a crap car. We've all had some. The secret of being happy with them is not to get the wimpy motor! :D Go-power is what Detroit does best.

And thats the truth, this piece of horse dung came equipped with the with the roaring beastly 198 slant six. ;) Yup, 0 to 60 in less than 60 seconds. Not that could snap any neck. :)

Not all slant sixes were dogs. How about 9.85 @ 132 mph in the quarter mile at Bristol with a turbo slant six using fuel injection? The brother of a friend from college worked in developing them.

I have a '72 Duster 340 4-speed. My dad bought it brand new and it was my high school car. It's in need of a good restoration right now, but I have no plans to ever get rid of it.
