Trying to go for an Urban/Grunge feel. Let me know your thoughts?

not knowing the exact genre of music, it's hard to say. I am guessing hip/hop? #1 works, #2 and #3 are street enough.

The changing logo should be sorted.
Maybe a spray can graffitti font or a shot of "infamous" in spray paint.

#1 is the best IMO, but that font has gotta go. Very common and cliche' - there is a really neat one called "sidewalk" that i think would work really well. check out DaFont.com for lots of neat free fonts.

I re-read my comment and realized and error, should have said NOT street enough.

I think number one works best. When you find the "sidewalk" font a think a great place to put it would be behind the head of the guy in the background. Let it stretch across the with of the pic. It will help it look like part of the picture instead of a font that was stuck on there.

I just wanted to follow up. here is the font i mentioned. Please dont feel obliged to use it, the photo just caught my eye - i thought of this font. I have added a bit of a drop shadow to it, but im sure you could tweak it for your situation.
good luck!

That looks great! I did find the font and was looking at adding it in. I like what you did with it. I'm going to try to experiment with it a bit. Thanks for everything. The feedback is greatly appreciated!

Great idea. I'll just have to see if I have the creativity to make it work!

I am liking it a lot. in the first version, i might suggest using the eyedropper to get the off-white color from one of the shirts. the prevalence of off-white in the picture and the bold clean whites sorta clash, but i am being picky.
I am not sure how you are doing the overlay, but you might try putting the lettering on a top layer and using blend modes. hard light or difference might be good ways to go. you could also use a stroke outline to make it more legible. Personally, i think you are 99% there, don't become too self-critical.

You're right Mike, i got the off white from the shirts, that little tweak makes a difference. I'm using a normal blend on this one. When I go to hard light, the color goes to a light orange. Which in itself. . isnt' that bad either. . .see both versions below. Before I wasn't giving much thought to the text but I see now how it can be a crucial final detail.

That looks awesome, what do the kids think of it?
Remember that it all depends on the usage too, if it is an album cover, tshirt, etc.. it can be a bit more artistic. if you are using it for promotion or posters or something small, then you need to make sure that it is more utility and less art.
For the record, I love the treatment and saturation. actually they are alot more interesting than the originals. When using the blending modes like hard light or difference, remember that using different text colors yields different blend results. You dont have to stick with the regular off white or whatever. in blend mode, making it blue or purple might give you the look you are going for.
GJ!

I really like the processing you have on these. I attempted to create a logo for it and added it to the pics (unfortunately I didn't have time to try to take out the original logos.) What do you think?http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r172/roisucre49/POTN/q22copy.jpg

That font is really awesome, but a bit hard to read. I love the grafiti style, where did you get it?

It's actually a brush set, rather than a font, that I downloaded (it's called sarin_tags_final1). I had to alter and/or create some of the letters to make it work. Overall though, it's a pretty cool brush set. I know it's not the easiest to read, but just like much of the lyrical aspects of hip-hop it's a lot a more clear than you would think to people that are entrenched in the hip-hop community. Anyway, just thought I'd take a stab at it. Thanks for the feedback

I'm glad you like it. Just figured it might go with his hat. By the way, where can we go to hear this group's music? Are they on myspace?
