Hey everyone,
I'm heading to Seattle next week with my wife. She has meetings each day for about 7 hours. So I have two days where I have 7 hours to fill with photography.
I've been to Seattle a few times but mostly for sporting events and visiting friends. I've been to Pikes and the Space Needle but have never been across the sound.
Anyways looking for some advise on some good day photography trips this time of the year in Seattle.
Thanks a bunch and I'll share some good ones when I get back.

Any particular interests? There's an awful lot of things to choose from. If you could narrow your possible interests down, it might help.
It sounds like you want to get out of the city. How far are you willing to travel? You could definitely take a ferry ride across the Sound, and leave yourself plenty of time to shoot and get back. I'm more familiar with other areas, though, so I'm not a lot of help with specific suggestions there.
As you well know, weather this time of year in this area can be a bit wet. Whatever you decide on, plan for that possibility.

What a coincidence - my wife and I went on an almost identical trip to Seattle a couple of years ago (she had conferences for 3 days, 8+ hours, while I had the whole day to do whatever I liked! :) ).
Unfortunately, I didn't have access to a car, so I was forced to stay in the city, but I can recommend some sites that I found interesting:
1. Space Needle
2. Fish Market
3. Science Fiction Museum (also the Music museum)
4. Just walking around the downtown area
That was my first time in Seattle, so I'm not sure if my suggestions are helpful, since it sounds like you know the area alot more than I do. I can tell you I was impressed by the size of the city, with the very large port area, and the sports stadiums. My wife and I really liked the outdoor fish market, and especially the Gum Wall (it was hard to find, but really cool!).
Have fun!

In no particular oder
1. Center For Wooden Boats: On S. Lake Union, has many small to medium wooden boats, nice color, nice reflections.
2. Seattle Public Library: Neat architecture
3. Fishermans Terminal: Tons of fishing boats and fisherment (it's crabbing season)
4. Bellevue Botanical Garden: Fall colors and a small Japanese Garden.
5. Kerry Park: On south Queen Anne Hill. This is the classic Seattle View, shot thousands of time before, but you need to get one of your own
6. 12th avenue (Rizal) Bridge: Great alternative view of the city. You can see this shot here: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=380587
Have Fun

Wow thanks for all the great ideas. I do have access to a car. What do you guys think about taking a trip to Bainbridge Island across the sound? Is it worth it this time of year? I've never been on the sound or a ferry for that matter.

The ferry does not do anything for me; however, everyone should ride one at least once.
If you decide to take a ferry trip, you should consider foing to Bremerton instead of BI. There is a very nice bonsai garden there (from what I hear):

The Naval shipyard is over there as well.

The weather might be a little rain and a little sun and quite a few clouds.
If it rains and you can't go out and shoot...
Experience Music Project right next to the Space Needle. My sister says it's much better than the rock and roll hall of fame. If your a Hendrix fan, it's a must see.
If you like art we have the seattle Art Museum which has been recently refurbished. Too big to see in one day.
The fish market at Pike Place is cool if you've never been.
Have fun!
