I am just getting started in digital photography and I was wanting to know if I should use Smugmug or Flikr to share my photo's with the world. Please let me know what you all think. Thanks

Flickr basic account is free, so no harm in giving them a try.
Smugmug basic account is $40/yr. but they have a 30 day free trial. They give you lots of display options with excellent customer service. Easy to upgrade to power or pro account if you advance to that level. I'm a happy smugger.

I set up a basic account for my church here:
http://firstumc.smugmug.com/

My personal account is here:
http://performancephoto.smugmug.com

Give 'em both a try. I think you'll like Smuggy better.

Hey Curtis, you cant beat Smuggy for its coustomer service... 24/7 they can be reached via email and even at 7:30 PM on a sunday, they returned my email in less that an hour! Also had some prints i had to send back because of some really bad yellow-ish tint to the shadows, they re did them for me and shipped em back free of charge, no questions asked! definetly smuggie over Flickr... esp with the recent troubles with stolen photos used in advertising (which werent stolen ...per se) .

I can't stand trying to navigate someone's Flickr account. SmugMug is far superior IMO.

I am a long time happy smugger. They are an incredible company. Every time you turn around they have added a new feature or 2. Unlimited band width is not something that many companies offer nowadays. Free services come and go but you often get what you pay for. You can get a basic smugmug account for $35 if you use the coupon code in my signature.:D

I used to have a Flickr account, hated all the nonsense associated with it. I also don't enjoy looking through someone else's pics there. As Mike said, the navigation on Flicker isn't good.

Then I looked at Smugmug, pbase and zenfolio and liked zenfolio the best by far. It is very easy and sleek. And cheaper than SM. You might want to check it out, the new Premium plan with custom pricing, watermarking, comments etc will be out in a few weeks :)

I just joined smugmug. It's pretty impressive, but I only got a 14 day trial. No real biggie as I've seen enough to convince me to stay.

I would NEVER use flikr nor ever suggest anyone to use it.
1st I cant stand thier layouts.
2nd read this unless you want ad companies in outher contries using your photos for free.

SmugMug is awesome especially if you want to sell prints to clients. I debated between SmugMug and Zenfolio and ended up with Zenfolio as I prefered the inteface a bit and don't sell prints for profit but do want to off visitors the ability to order prints. Zenfolio is perfect for this. They are only $40 a year for unlimited storage and badwidth. Depending on what you plan to do I would check them out. Like SmugMug they are always adding features.

Hi Guys. I posted a similarbout Flickr and Clickpic. I was given info about Zenfolio and smugmug. I like the sound of both... Question?? Do you have to buy prints from any of them and if I wanted to sell prints.. which is best. Do I have to pay them and use their printers etc. You know the sort of thing.
Really could do with some help.

Are you a blogger? Go to flickr
Are you a Photographer? Go to Smugmug.

Not to throw more confusion to your decision, but I use Zenfolio. I found it easier to use than Smugmug, other than that the 2 are similar.
