"shape must be simplified"? what am I doing wrong?

I'm trying to fix some remaining red-eye with a clone-stamp tool, after using the lasso tool and working with the area using the Hue/Saturation to desaturate the pupil, but I get a message that says the "shape must be simplified". :shock:
Well, how do I "simplify" it? :? or what in the heck am I doing wrong?

But you know what, this link made me remember that I had put a Red Eye tutorial up like almost three years ago. And it's still there!

The tutorial was made for .... hell PS V6 I believe. But it will work jsut as well in 6, 7 or CS.

I checked out your tutorial and learned several things, most importantly (to me, at least) was the use of the "new view" frame. That's cool as heck, even though I know it should have been a common-sense thing - I'm so new at this as to be dangerous.

BUT, I'm using PS Elements and I don't have access to "Channels", so I'm going to have to check out my "Hidden Power" tools from Lynch and see if I can do it in a roundabout way.

If you're using Elements, have you tried the "red eye tool" - it actually works pretty well, removing the "red hue" only leaving all detail intact.

Choose "red eye tool" from the floating tool pallet (it looks like an eye next to a brush symbol), zoom in to enlarge the eye you're about to work on, in the brush options at the top of the panel choose a brush size about equal to the diameter of the pupil and look over to the right to ensure sampling is set to "first click", position the tool over the red eye, click and drag until the red is gone... note, be sure your first click is actually in the red part of the eye before you start dragging.

:lol: DP, I know just what you mean... I've had PE2 on my system at work for a year and the only time I've looked at it is out of curiosity when questions come up from this forum (not that I actually read the forum at work - for any IT guys monitoring my IP address :wink: ) - for example it never occurred to me that PE2 wouldn't have channels... opened it up to see for myself and just happened to notice the "red eye" tool - never even noticed it before.

Being conditioned to PS since version 3, PE2 is something I'm unlikely put effort into getting used to but for those who want an alternative I'm finding myself recommending pretty often... it's a good application.
