I have a battery grip and two BP511, one of them is cheap generic. In the last 5 month, several times I went on whole day shootings, taking ~1GB of pictures, and deleting, probably, another 1GB along the way. I usually keep the camera on most of the time, I always review pictures, check histograms, etc. The batteries NEVER got fully discharged. Although, the last time, I think, they were almost there, and one day, this may happen. I'm thinking about getting another 1 or 2 batteries, just in case this happens.

So, the question is, how many batteries do you have/use?
Polls are fun.

I currently have a 10D and a 300D with grips so I rotate 6 batteries between the two. I probaly dont need that many but I tend to overdo things.

okay, if you have more than one camera, please report the number of batteries per camera. round your answer to the nearest integer. for example, if you have 20 batteries and 6 cameras, you have 3 and 1/3 batteries per camera, so you should answer 3 ;)

I guess we also need to discriminate between people with and without grips. People with grips tend to buy more batteries and in pairs. Well, too late for that.

I don't want the added weight of the battery grip. One battery lasts a very long time and changing to a new battery in need is really quite fast. So I only have 2 batteries.

For me, one has been enough and I think it still is. Recently though I bought the grip and also another battery thinking that the grip needs 2 to work. Then my old G1 broke (now with my sister) so I took the battery and now I have 3.

By the way, these batteries are amazing. At 3+ years old, my old G1 battery is still going strong.

4 for D60 and 2 for 1D. So I vote 3.

In fact I want to buy one more battery for 1D but it's expensive :(

I have two batteries for my 10D. I'm not a heavy shooter, I've never drained a full battery in one day. I always use the battery until the camera won't shoot anymore and keep the spare battery fully charged, so I can change it as soon as the other one is empty. In my opinion, you can't live without at least one spare battery.

i have a bg-ed3 for my 10d and only have 2 batteries total. i also have a 4g microdrive so it is very nice not have to worry about swapping batteries and/or swapping cards in a day of shooting...

i am very spoiled now. with my last cam i had to keep track of several 256mb cards and 2 batteries while out int the field...

I have 2 batteries for my 300D. I kind of see that as the norm for non-professionals interested in photography as a hobby. Then again, maybe I'll go out this weekend and shoot 2,000 pics and I'll be burned.

also i usually carry my battery charger and a $30 ac/dc adapter that i can plug up into my cigarette lighter just in case im out on the road and my batteries get too low...

ive been burned once before by having my batteries die out on me during a shoot and lemme tell you that sucks bigtime.... it will only happen once.

Two - one original Canon that came with my 10D and the other is cheap generic. Both are working pretty well so far, I haven't seen a single performance difference between the two.

I have three batteries... two live in the grip and the third is "the spare". I've never had to use the spare although I came very close at Goodwood...

Three - no grip (still trying to decide whether to get it now or wait and use the money for the Mk II).
