Mark,
Super action photos. All but the last one really "pop" from the screen. The colors and contrast are outstanding. The 2nd and 3rd photos are my favorites :)
Which lens did you use to make these?

Thanks, Jim. This was the 300 f2.8 on a monopod.
I'll be shooting football under the lights tonight. Homecoming week at the high school.

These are really sharp and colourful. Great job.

Great colours and timing. My only criticism would be that picture 2 needs the ball in it to make it a 'proper' action shot.

KennyActually, it is. You can just see it peeking out from behind the girl's foot.
Mark. This is a new sport to me. Tall, athletic girls with giant candy canes. Intersting.
I do like #2 best. It looks like the girl with the ball is about to get a serious drubbing by the girls coming out of the net. Apparently your camera is not giving you any serious focus problems.

Thanks, Tom. Very sharp eyes too. Even I didn't see the ball behind the foot. I did wonder how it appeared in the next shot though.
yes, interesting sport, no?
As to aiservo problems, on a rare occasion it will lose focus when I think it shouldn't. But my 1DsMKII did the exact same thing. However, when I mentioned that and posted examples of it in the mkIII thread, I was the one who took the drubbing. :(

You did well there to capture the speed of the game & still make it viewable ( does that make sense?)
My son plays Hockey for the local team and it is a terrific sport reall end to end stuff and down right dangerous too - that little hard thing get to around 80 mph and has a habit of coming straight at you !!

Looks like you've really captured the raw brutality of the sport, Mark. Nice action series. I would've loved to have seen a few stick-to-the-face shots.

Nice action series, Mark. The crops on number 2 and 3 are a bit tight but that probably couldn't have been helped.
In most of the world field hockey is played by men. Why not here in the U.S. I wonder?
