I received an email from a guy in Finland wanting to know if he could use one of my pictures that he saw on photosig.com for a book about childrens soccer  . Since the picture is of my7 yr old son I guess I dont need his permission. Is there anything I should do with the picture before I e-mail the original file to him. He siad that I'd be given credit for the photo in the book. I have never had anything like this happen before so any and all advice would be very much appreciated.
Thanks

I wound't do it without some type of agreement in writing stipulating how much I was to be paid for the picture, what his rights are to use the picture, etc. If you send it to him based on his promise to credit you, he'll put his watermark and copyright on it and give you nothing.

I prefer to have some kind of money change hands along with a signed agreement. The money does not need to be more than a token amount, and the agreement does not have to take more than two or three lines, but it keeps the deal "square" for both parties.
I "give away" photos to my friends, but only in a lower resolution format. Anything in high resolution needs some kind of a deal.
