Canon G5. recharging cable America/Ireland

hi, im from Ireland but am heading to the states in a few weeks and am planning to buy the Canon G5. can anyone tell me about the mains to recharge the camera, will it work in Ireland if i buy a voltage converter,(if there is such a thing), or will i be able to buy a new cable over here that will correspond to the mains on the camera............ Or has anyone any other suggestions?

The standard mains adaptor supplied with the G5 has a universal 110/240v AC input. So all you will need to do is change the plug when you get home!

thanks a million..... do you own a G5 by any chance. Would you recommend it to an advanced amateur. i basically just want it for college, im doing graphics and generally need quick handy images for my computer to work with. have a non-digital SLR so that can take care of the more important jobs.

I have a G3. I would certainly recommend the G5 to you and you may even find that you come to use it for some of the more important jobs as well :wink:

Just make sure you get the Compact Power Adaptor CA-560. The power cord to the wall is a very common one which you can replace with an Irish one when you get back. Or you can whack off the US plug and replace it.

The G5 is a great camera!

I've got a G3 and use the CA-560, the mains lead has a standard plug into the charger which you can obtain anywhere. While you are over there have a look at the other chargers for car charging etc. Think they are CR-560 and CG-570.
What part of Ireland do you live? As you see I'm from Kerry.

Riverdance, im from Cavan............ no slagging, in college in Dublin.
Have definately decided on the G5 and Baz, didnt mean to slag the camera off by saying that i wouldnt use it for the more important jobs..Honest. :wink:
