Mixed bag ...
1 - ho hum. cropping the dead space at the top may help some.
2 - chopped cranium
3 - diggin' it! nice pan and eyes
4 - ho hum, and lots of dead space at the top
5 - no face but the perspective is cool. maybe photoshop the people out of the background
6 - like it. crisp image, eyes. however, distracting stuff in the background, especially the head coming out of the tree. also, cropping/framing wise, better to leave space in front of rider to show where he's going. not possible? crop tighter.
7 - no face and not very interesting. better angle could have been had if you were shooting from near the jump.
have fun ...

5 and 6 are my favorites. Interesting angles used through out the set of photos.

Yeah a 17-40 would have helped with the look of those more... But $$$$ doesn't allow this to happen.

Well someone already went through these pretty throroughly. You are getting better with exposure, that is for sure. Cropping off various parts of the rider/bike isn't going to help your situation much though.
Try getting lower, always have a face in the shot if possible. I'd pan slightly slower, some of them have that half pan look that just drives my eyes insane, or are slightly OOF. Practice panning at about 1/60th if you can, it will really help you. good luck!

Thanks Fraser (sp) you are really cool with input and all. BTW do you recognize this DHer from 2000 or so.. He was looking FAST as hell and hadn't ridden in over a year! He was a very fast SEMI PRO...

Kendleweed's line over the whoops before the last berm was crazy fast. That is such a fun race. The DH course was soo fast and flowy. In the "tree" section, I forgot to ride up higher and almost hit that tree. haha
One guy on an xc/trail bike coming up the uphill side of the big g-out did a scorpion/front flip off it. He went like 25'. His bike went like 35' and landed in a 6' tall bush. He cracked his xc helmet. He was still good somehow. Do you have a wide pic of the g-out?

3 and 6 would be my pick, the rest of them not so good at all. How ever focus wise OK it just a matter not cutting heads or bike off the shot. I really like to see the riders face and in particular the eyes.

^ I agree! The soft lighting, angle, and that you can see his eyes is cool.

the last one is pretty darn good, but could have benefited from a bit more space in front of the rider. the problem with this sort of shot is that you can see his eyes looking for the exit of the corner, but you can't see where he is looking. if you had taken it a fraction earlier and zoomed out just a touch, you would have had him looking almost directly at you and have been able to show a bit more perspective in terms of his direction.
still, the last is definitely the best. i also like the one of the guy on the Chameleon.
well done :)

Do you have any wide shots of the g-out? I would have taken some, but I didn't feel like racing with my camera. haha
