Yeah I know, but I found the g3 document by going through that. I only posted that one because it was the most relevant. The others are still interesting though.

OK - let's have a show of hands; who knew that the 420EX has a *xenon* lamp? Whoa! I use one of those for a bike light, and it takes a real kick to get it lit. I'm surprised it can be used to this effect, given that my bike light warms up over a couple of minutes, going from a ghostly blue to a misty blue in color.
Oh well, maybe an engineer would have an explanation - I majored in French and English...

LOL on the English/French major comment! :D
I must confess, I never even thought about whether or not the 420EX had a xenon lamp.

Got to love Liberal Arts - my first job out of college was cleaning boats in a marina, then I got a certified as a National Hardwood Lumber Grading inspector in Memphis (I even met Elvis), worked in a sawmill, got a graduate degree in International Relations and Business, and now I'm a corporate webmaster in France. But I still don't understand Xenon lamps.
Thank goodness for photography, about the only thing I've done consistently over time.
