I have recently purchased this flash and have used it a few times connected to my camera. Now, my question is this, I have seen many photographers use their flash off of the camera. The flash was say in their right hand holding it up over their head, etc. What do I need to purchase to use my flash off of the camera? I am so new to flash, that I probablly shouldn't even think about this now until I learn how to use it on camera first, but I have noticed that if I turn my camera vertically, the flash stays the same place(sorry if this sounds dumb). Any info or help would be appreciated.

You need an off camera cord; such as this one - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/12972-REG/Canon_2391A001_Off_Camera_Shoe_Cord.html. You could also use wireless flash controllers/slave flash unit but $$. For frequent portrait use a rotating or flip flash bracket is recommended. I just rotate the head around on my 430, usually works ok for casual stuff.
