I have always burned my photos onto CDRWs, and now, for some strange reason, I cannot view the pictures after I burn them onto the CDRWs !!

The extension is .cda never noticed what it was before, so I don't know whether it is always .cda when you burn them. Now, my Media player tries to open my files unsuccessfully!

And I have no idea which program to use to view my pics on the CD !! HELP!!

Since I use a CDRW, I just add on to whatever is on the CD...but now, it says that it us an audio CD !!! All are pictures !!

Can anyone tell me what to do??

what burner program are you using? I'm assuming you're using windows of some type. if all else fails use the direct mode and drag and drop your files to the cd, then when full, finalize the disk. Roxio ez cd creator has some pretty simple photo album and data cd selections. Without knowing your exact programs, and work flow it's kind of hard to help more than that.

Star,

Darrell asked the right questions. We need more info, but somehow you have managed to copy your image files on to CD and change the extension to CDA, which indicates an audio track. That's why Media Player tries to open it. You almost certainly have the copying software incorrectly configured.

You could try pointing at an image file using Windows Exploer, right-click and choose "open with" and select BreezeBrowser or whatever to view existing pictures.

Since I use a CDRW, I just add on to whatever is on the CD...but now, it says that it us an audio CD !!! All are pictures !!

This sounds like you have the CD configured to act like a floppy disk, so you can add and delete files as you wish. I think this is a very _bad_ method for a permanent archive of your irreplaceable pictures files. I have found RW CD's very unreliable - often failing to work in their parent PC and invariably unreadable in another PC.

Once you have sorted out the burning software, I would copy all the "CDA image files" back onto your PC, rename them to have the correct extension and then burn new archive copies (minimum of 2).

I am using the Adaptec Easy Cd creater 4

All the while, I have just burned my pics onto the CDs without any problems...that's why I am stumped now! I am not doing anything different.

And I am not choosing to save it as an audio CD, I always choose data.

Do you think it would help if I just used a CDR, instead of a CDRW?

Would it make a difference?

I tried burning it onto a CDR, and I think it's ok...I actually managed to view the pics !!

What was wrong? Is it becoz I was using a CDRW??

I doubt it. A CDRW is just designed to allow the multiple read/write access that I mentioned earlier. You should use these CD's for this type of access, but it doesn't change my opinion of the riskiness of using them for archives.

I'm afraid I stopped using CD Ceator when I switched to Win 2k 'cos it didn't work right, so I can't help you with that.

Are you reading the CDRW disk in the CDRW or trying to read it in a regular CD?

There are also several other disk burning applications that do not "play well" with Adaptec/Roxio Direct CD. Just installing one of these applications (such as Nero) causes problems, particularly with the CDRW access.

Hi guys...

Now I am using CDR, and not CDRW, and find that it seems to be working ok now.

Thank you SO MUCH for your help!

Your knowledge impresses me!!
