Hi everyone!

Has anyone uplowaded the A40 patch ? Is it safe for our cameras? Is the focus problem fixed ?

I bought an A30 to give as a gift, so I installed the patch before wrapping it up. The patch didn't appear to give any problems, and I've only heard good things about it.

Hi Russ,

I recently purchased the A40 (2 weeks ago) and was initially a bit nervous about applying the upgrade. I finally decided to install it and had no problems.

I haven't had enough time to see if it has improved the focus or not yet, but there seems to have been no problems with the camera after installing the patch.

I have downloaded the patch fm cannon website for my a40, it seems that the focus problem has been fixed and it's safe for cammera after installed it.

I have owned the A40 for a couple weeks now and was just made aware of a patch by this thread. How do you load the patch and why is it necesary?

After a40 was found really has 2.5x inaccurate focus problem, Cannon officially relleased a firmware for adjustment. But only a part of cammeras have problem according to Cannon, you can visit Cannon website and enter your serial number to verify if yours have the problem.

I installed the upgrade/patch (which is not a firmware upgrade, as the firmware number doesnt change) and It does help and goto that site and run through the 5pages so you understand what it is and how it works and all the disclaimer stuff. The actually process is super easy, it uses the USB cable to upload a file to the CF and then you use a new menu option to run it. It only takes a minute to do.
