I have never had a couple SO into an engagement session. They where SO excited. They planned out the locations, rented costumes, had props, it was amazing!
SO many excellent images to choose from!
Here are my favoUrites!

Glad you took advantage of such a prime engagement shoot, especially with props and costumes as you mentioned.

Nice shots, the motorcycle shots are my fave. Especially 10 and 11

Congrats again :-)

Done during raw conversion in lightroom, basically bumped the blacks up big time and shadow curve, and maxed out the white balance as well.

Nice :-) I wasn't sure if it was a masked duotone or something. I love the simplicity of this :-)

I think my favourites out of the bunch are 11 and 15.

I think 15 has that different feel to where it isn't an engagement shoot anymore but possibly an ad shoot or a a setup for a movie or something. Just like the 50s feel to it, perfect costumes, perfect location.

great series and defenetly amazing folio material, #11 is my favourite ...couple notes if i may:
#4,8,9 lack in composition in my opinion. Don't quite get the purpose of the tilt in #4 especially with lamp getting disturbingly close to the edge of the frame. 8 is way to tight, you are cutting off the the features of the bike which are pretty important in a 'theme' shot like that ...they could use a tiny bit more air at the top of the frame too; 9 on the other hand ...i really like 'negative space' in photography but this just looks like it was accidently 'snapped'.

SWEET PICS JEFF!

Lukasz, thanks for the critic, the reason for the tight crop in #8 is to sorta make it look like they might be riding the bike instead of just sitting on it in the parking lot.

great shots Jeff, Love them.
I've mentioned them and people don't really seem interested.

They're a new thing in Oz too. And the purpose doesn't seem clear ... I tell my clients it's about 1.) getting to know each other (them and me) and 2.) getting some shots to use on invites/programmes/etc. but I've heard of other photographers offering an e-shoot and not delivering the results until after the wedding. What the?

#1 looks over processed on my monitor?
#2 and #3...she is playing to the camera?
The silhouettes are just stunning :)
The 50's photos are the best! Wonderful photos and so full of fun.

Great series, you got some great emotion here, the couple will be well pleased:)

That seems stupid.
I tell people its about building a relationship between me and them, makes everyone more relaxed on the day

Ok Toogy these pictures are begging to be put into a guest sign in book. Order one from WHCC. Super cute couple. #15 is my fav and thats because the light is amazing in that photo. The rest seem a little dark to me.

These are kickass!

Was she, by chance, a smoker?

Toogy

I have no idea, why?

I have no idea, why?

The lines around her eyes and on her neck scream smoker to me ... the young lady I shot as part of a family session this weekend was a smoker and she looks ten years older than her early-20s because of the smoking lines ...

well, all the ass kissing aside. I think you still suck. these have knocked you back a notch. I mean really...who wants totally cute pics by an ice cream parlor? Who wants smokin hot pics of them on a bike wearing sunglasses? come on..what, are these people like in love or something. ughh. throw up.

I love shot #7. The bicycle... innocence... discovery... timelessness and longevity (the tree).

I'm not so keen on the biker shots or the John Travolta 'Grease' style images - although you have done them really well and I'm sure they'll love them. Just not my taste.

Haha I love how it starts with a bicycle and it upgrades to a motorcycle

Nice work!

I just realized I have looked at these quite a few times now and didn't comment because it's to hard to!:D

I love all of these, so unique! You guys make me jealous with shoots like this!

To make it easier on myself I tried to pick my favoUrites!

They are 16, 15, 7, & 9.

But honestly I think they are all great shots, there is something about almost every one of them that screams WOW to me!

Great job Jeff!

Except for 1 (some barrel distortion - or maybe intentional), 4 (too much tilting for my taste), and 7 (tilting, the tree trunk kinda bothers me).... these are absolutely crap (in your term, it would mean GREAT ;))

What lense(s) did you use ? some wide angle for most shots?

Toogy
18th of October 2007 (Thu), 15:08
Kim, everything was shot with either the 70-200 F2.8 IS or 17-55 F2.8 IS

Thanks :)
