Was surprised to see the deeper colours under the moth which came in with some clothes from the washing line.

Lovely captures - odd it being more colourful on the underside unless potential mates are always on the ground ?

I was thinking why would it be more colourful under it's wings too, nice shots though.

I don't know anything about moths and have never seen one of these before. I was pleased with the first shot because I gave up on the flash, the first couple of shots looked like a textured grey moth, no colour visible at all. Had to encourage it into a glass to get the second shot. Thanks for the input.

Marty, when I see photos of your Wood Ducks I think you have the most colourful birds! Have to agree though some of Australia's parrots are ridiculously colourful.
