Hi,

I've noticed that the color of my car is far from reality on pictures taken by Canon A710 IS. The same object photographed with Nikon 4100 is much better, color is much closer to authentic. Both photos are attached below, left is from Canon (full-size photos: http://elzab.com.pl/~michalp/zdjecia/Polo/). Canon makes this car much more blue than it is (original VW color number is LD6D, equivalent for this green is MoTip 320 C).

I have presented this issue to the Canon support (Canon Helpdesk #3908587), and they were requesting new photos over and over again, finally I have lost patience. In this connection I am certain that the support is not capable of solving this issue. I have impression that they are shifting the issue onto me, to discourage me from fathom the solution of issue.

Both photos are taken with AUTO settings - I believe that this mode should give quality without any manipulations in arrangements.

Do you think that my way of thinking is proper? Why Canon doesn't want to solve the problem or advise me something?

Michal

I'd take a look at the white balance setting on your camera. I also suspect that the difference in white balances (notice the vegetation in the two looks different; IMO the Nikon vegetation looks to be an unnatural colour, leaving aside the different exposures) is affected by the portion of the image that's used in white balance calculation. A further complicating factor is that blue-green is a very under-covered colour in the [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_spacesRGB colour space[/url]; it's one of the hardest colours to represent "correctly".
