View Full Version : taking pics of the moon, leds, lights in genreal

ive tried to take pics of the moon, and the stars and stuff with my g2. i set the f stop to 2.0 and make the shutter length as short as i could. the moon still looks kinda not so good, and just looks like a blur of light..

There should be some old threads on how to shoot the moon on the forum.

Quintessence: The moon is just another object lighted by the sun ... so you have to select the same settings you'd use on a sunny day... like ISO 50, f/5.6 and 1/100-1/200 exposure. Then you'll see the details on the moon.
Of course, you won't be able to shoot a photo of the moon together with something else on earth, like the moon behind a building, because the latter will be much too dark with these exposure settings. If you want to do that, you'll have to take 2 pictures, expose one for the moon and one for the surroundings, and combine them later in PS.
