Canon rebates?

Any one got wind of the rebates for the US yet?

Be patient. When the rebates are announced the forums will be flooded with posts and the link to the official rebate form. You won't have to look hard or ask about it. We'll all know.

I had to call Canon this morning to find out about the status of a repair and while I was on the phone with them I asked to be transferred to the pre-sales department and to find out about rebate programs.

They are being tight-lipped about it. The guy I spoke to said, and I quote....

"We don't know anything about rebates and those that answer the phones here are not the ones that would know."

So, we wait :D

The 40D is a new camera as is the troubled Mark III. The 1ds isn't even out yet, so what are they going to give rebates on? The 5D? The price has already dropped under $2300 (and they're selling like hotcakes) and I really can't see them giving rebates on it unless its replacement is on its way and they need to clear inventories.

Of course, there is a nice cause and effect with 5D sales because when they pick up so do sales of L lens. It may or may not take a village to raise a child but is certainly takes an L lens to use a 5D :)

I was just making a general inquiry as to when or if there would be rebates. I think that the Canada rebates already announced give us an idea of what will be on the list. I'm not expecting anything spectacular and I don't expect to see a 40D rebate but this is the exact time that the rebates were announced last year so I was simply following up to see what was going on.

Wondering too...what the heck is going on. Although, what can they put rebates on? Oh well, if there one on the 40D it'll be good and if not, oh well.

I'm just speculating but I anticipate the US rebates to be very similar to what we're seeing on the Canada rebates. Other than the 5D I don't think there will be rebates on camera bodies. More than likely it's going to be lenses, flash, printers and a few accessories.

Well that would suck for me. In the last several weeks I've picked up a 580EX II, 24-70 f/2.8L, 5D, and BG-E4. All with the ability to be re-invoiced when the rebates drop.
