This is the second time I've shot Sir Tom Jones (actually he wasn't quite yet a Knight the first time I photographed him.) The first time Tower of Power opened for him and during that performance I dropped my 70-200mm f/2.8L IS (actually it was on my 1DMII and I left it on a floor speaker and it walked off and dropped about four feet) and had to use my 300mm f2.8L IS (my favorite lens since then.) Anyway, Tom came back. We had three songs and nothing from right up front (i.e. "up the nose"). I think he was actually better this time although I didn't stick around after shooting to watch the whole show. EXIF and IPTC is intact (although not in the collage.)

#1 The obligatory collage:

#2 My favorite of the set ... it looks a little OOF in the eyes because he was double spotlighted:

#3 Nothing indicating a performance but a nice expression:

#4 One with a little emotion:

#5 One of my rare B&W conversions:

#6 "A little Dance" ... I didn't even see the guy behind who I would clone out but that's not what I am supposed to do at this gig. At least he is pretty OOF.

The Fresh Prince stuff is priceless. I loved that show, especially when Tom Jones appears to Carlton in a dream sequence. That was hysterical!

Great work, Dwight. He looks a lot older, but I'm sure he still can drive the women nuts! Blue eyes, wow!

Thanks, Suzy, I had no clue what Constrict was about! And yes, I heard he had quite a collection of panties on the stage after I left.

Great work (as usual) Dwight! He does look old. Do you make your collages from scratch in PS, or use a specific program for collages? I would like to attempt a couple from some of my concerts.

They just never fit right ... wrong cut, you know! Besides, I was home in bed by then. Besides, in my house there are panties strewn everywhere all the time, so NBD.

Well, I didn't see them but it is odd that the last time he was here there were no panties thrown.

I make my collages "by hand" in PhotoImpact exactly as you would in Photoshop. If you go to my website and click through the Chumash Casino link you will find that every gallery starts with a collage ... the first few months that's all there is ... starting with Willy Nelson on 2005 I added other images. So there must be well over 100 of them to check out with a slowly evolving change of style.

Hey Dwight! Long time, no see (or post in this case)!
Excellent photos (as usual). Your shots and post keep getting better every time I see them, sir. Tom sure looks old now.

I havent had much time to visit/post in this entire forum, due to school. I'm trying to, though.

Nice set, difficult (color of) suit.

I agree with the comments you make on #2 and 3.

I like #7 and the first B&W in the link as well.

Yes, I heard that's the only thing he ever wears in concert.

I am discovering that I don't like my smaller (pixel dimensions and filesize) images nearly so well as my old style ... the 100KB images just aren't as crisp and detailed as the 300KB images, although I will not be going back due to infringement issues.
