I always wonder what hoops you guys have to go through to firstly get your cameras on board and secondly clear what pics you can & cant post???

I wonder the same thing!
Also: can you have a personal computer with satellite internet or are you restricted to use the ships computers?

Anything on board (exterior wise) are allowed to take pictures of... there are certain area that is what you called "Top Secret". A month before we end our deployment there are what we called "Tiger Cruise" its a group of civilian people/family that they can come on board and to experience what is the life on a Naval Carrier like... so most of them have cameras! LoL!
we can bring personal computer/laptops but we cant connect it to the ships satellite... we have the Navy's computer that we have to use to check emails and stuff! and yeah we are restricted to use the ships computer internet wise.

Yes we have been on the Truman twice with personal tours throughout the boat was very impressive I must say. I want to do a Tiger Cruise but it hasn't happened yet. Our son was with the Pukin Dogs VFA-143 he is an AT. Dunno when his next sea duty is, maybe next year or so.

your son work with hornets, I used to work on those platform also then I shifted to helo's just because I wanted to go San Diego. so you also have some photos of the truman... care to share it to us? is your son doing shore duty as of now? well if he's going back to sea duty definitely he'll be on deployment and of course that they are gonna have Tiger Cruise! in an experience to be on board for 2 weeks! you'll be proud of your son on how hard life is on a ship.

I was at Oceana/Norfolk in June visiting my brother in law. The "Pukin Dogs" was my oldest son's favorite squadron. The Truman was in port also. These ships are truly impressive.

Here in Georgia, Savannah has a very busy port and you see container ships of all sizes. I used to work for the Marine Corps as a civilian & have been in Norfolk when the fleet would return - man what an impressive sight. You are so overwhelmed when you see the size of these carriers!
