it finally arrived today, couldn't really get out to take shots yet but i did shoot a test shot. it's on the left and the right one is a sigma 100-300 f4.5-5.6 DL. this lens is so sharp!

Beauty eh?!
I just got the 135F2L prime. Dont you just love the black primes so much more than those white zooms?
Not only are these lenses sharp, the colour and contrast is phenomenal.
Your picture really shows this point nicely.

BTW, dont hesitate getting the 1.4x extender. I just did some comparisons on my 135F2L, and I dont see any difference in quality.

yes, the black primes are excellent looking lens and performers. i just might have to look into the 1.4x extender.

It does look fantastic. I've enjoyed similar sharpness from my Canon 100mm Macro 2.8. But doesn't the Sigma look soft as much as the Canon looks sharp?

Yes, I would highly recommend the 1.4x extender.
In this thread, I have a comparison both with and without the extender, and there is no visible difference in detail and quality.

yeah, i saw that thread earlier, i can't tell a difference with the 1.4x on or off.

I REALLY would like to test a 2x extender.
They seem to have a really bad rep, but I would like to see a comparison with my own eyes.
Anyway, yes, if you were planning on something longer, the 1.4x would give you a very crisp 280F4L lens. 8)
