Band is Parkway Drive, hardcore genre, small venue, wide lens, no flash. Well, not my flash anyway.
This shot was taken using my new scottish strategy of using other shooters' flash light!
Amazing crowd/scene. I have some good shots... check out the other shooters in opp corners etc.
EOS 5D, man exp, 20mm, f5.6, iso 1250, 1/100th, raw in lightroom resized, zero sharpening, zero noise reduction, desat.
2100 pix wide, 1400 high, 833kb.
Just for fun, should I print it as a momento?

I really like this one. I think you've caught an atmosphere extremely well.. the desat works nicely, too.

Thx.
A fluke that the mosh was lit so well from another tog's brief flash. What are the odds?

several to one, I would say...
Looks good - it's got a 'raw' mood to it.

Were you at the gig last night?
If so, were you part of the reason that the Arena is closed for a week while they repair damage caused by people watching Parkway Drive? :o
Musta been a good night!

Nice shot!
But: Sitting audience with hardcore???
I had to look again... yeah you could think that... but we are standing on side of the stage. The <300 audience is standing.
It was sheer luck no one was injured. I blame the venue not the bands which were ok. There was a lack of the "usual" security guys/safety barrier and a dangerous crush was on during this PD set. You can see teens right at the front in difficulties. This is how suffocations etc can happen, no barrier. I've seen your average mosh a fair bit, but this was pushing the envelope. Some moshers and divers were over the top. There was a very rough/nasty attitude from some idiots towards their peers. I watched the face of one of these people nearest me and IMHO he was there just to start a all-in fight or see what he could get away with. I saw one man (a roadie?) grab and remove a feral but thats the only one. The worst memory was a feral that shoved past me and others, climbed the speaker that was sheltering us and jumped off with knees first. Its not hard to imagine a lawyer-fest looming in the future of this venue if they don't apply some discipline.

The strange thing about hardcore gigs like PWD is that people go to them expecting to come out bruised battered and sore, and it seems to add to the experience. It's a pretty bizarre idea really, but it's quite a prevalent mindset amongst the people attending shows like that.
Oh and that's a great photo ;) really captured the emotion of the crowd
