Just wondering if anyone knows if Sigma will be introducing any new lenses any time soon?

Sigma could do with going down the Canon route and adding OS to a few of its best lenses.
The 50-500, 100-300/4.0, 120-300/2.8, 500/4.5 and 300-800 would all really benefit from it. Be nice on the 70-200/2.8 as well.

Since they will need to ramp up production on HSM lenses for the new Nikon bodies (d40 and d40x have no in-body AF motor) I am guessing we will see many of our favorite Sigmas getting HSM. Once they make an HSM version for one brand, it doesn't make sense to keep making a non-hsm for the other brands. I see the 18-50 HSM coming real soon as it already exists for Nikon.

yes, i have never held a sigma with IS before, but acording to photozone :
http://www.photozone.de/8Reviews/lenses/sigma_80400_4556os/index.htm
"Sigma claims an efficiency of three f-stops but in the field it didn't really feel superior to Canon's IS. Subjectively it even felt like I had more outliers out there. Better expect 1/200sec @ 400mm (640mm equiv.) as the minimum in shutter speed. A rather annoying aspect of the OS is an increased shutter delay when shooting subsequent images (image bursts). The issue seems to originate in the high power drain of the OS and it seems to happen on all EOS cameras (even with attached battery pack). So far this is the first IS/OS lens tested to date showing such an odd behavior."

OS on the 50-150mm and the 70-200mm. That'd be sweet.
HSM and OS on the 70mm Macro 2.8?

So you know for a fact this will happen? Or are you just wishing?

I never implied that I knew it for a fact. I think that those would be very useful lenses.

Ok. The reason I asked is because the topic is...
"Is Sigma going to introduce a new lens soon?"
Not what new Sigma lens would you like to see.
