Hi all, I spent about 6 hours at the pond today, and saw quite a few birds...The wind was blowing hard and it was cold, but the sun was out. I had better luck with the lens, getting sharper shots overall. Here is one that came out pretty good...I will post some other ones later...Steve

Nice capture Steve. The pond location is really paying off for you. Glad your lens is behaving better.

Thanks Travis...they are tiny, but those claws on the feet sure can climb the trees...steve

Thanks Karen...The lens worked a little better today...although I really need a longer reach...A group of western bluebirds and red crossbills hanging out together came down on the other side of the pond, and I couldn't shoot them. I got some better shots of the Abert's squirrel this time, the one with the long ears...this one squirrel really has long one's...Check it out in the animal section will post soon. title--Mr Abert returns....steve

Thanks Bob, yes a little better, but I'm still thinking somethings not right. I took off the 1.4x and shot without it...still seemed not to be very sharp. I put it back on because there were to many birds around I wanted to reach. I did alot better than the day before, but I might send the lens to Canon and have them check it out. I will most likely buy the 300mm f4 IS prime next week...steve

Adorable! For some reason your title made me think "Mutant Ninja Teenage Pygmy Nuthatches."

HAHA, must be something in our water Liz, cause the first thing that crossed my mind was Teenage Mutant Ninja Pygmy Turtle.

Bet he'll be flying fine once he grows a rudder! I had a baby robin this summer looked like that - all he could manage was a straight line, then aim towards his next target! Beautiful shot!

Great shot of that cool little bird Steve. Very sharp with plenty of detail. What lens are you using?

Thanks Henry, only took me 550 shots to get one sharp...It's the 70-200mm 2.8 IS with a 1.4x. I'm not too thrilled with the lens for birds unless the bird is sitting on my foot. I am going to send it in and have it checked, most of my shots were lousy, soft and out of fucus. This one came out OK...steve

This is not a baby, although it looks small. He can fly with the best of them...thanks for the nice comment....steve
