Thanks Travis...I found this place a couple of years ago, but had forgotten about it for a good bird spot. Now I'm spending both days off there every week, and next week when my 300mm f4 comes in I will try it out on the birds that stay further away from me.

Thanks Gary...I always shot nuthatches on the side of trees...I like seeing them coming down for water, then they stand up like other birds...This little Red-breasted is a little shy compared to the pygmy, and I had a hard time getting a shot...Until I saw this one at the pond, I didn't even know they were in this area....steve

Very nice shots of these little cuties. You sure have a variety of Nuthatches we never see, although I did see one little red breasted a few evenings last week. Now that I have a camera again, he hasn't come back. A lot smaller than the white breasted too, I almost missed him. :)

Thanks Mitch...when I first saw the red-breasted, I didn't know what it was...the pygmy's would chase it off when it came down to drink...This one is a bit shy...hope to see it again and get some better shots...steve

Great shots. I love nuthatches. The noise they make when they come eat out of our hands is sweet. Makes you want to bring them home.

Never tire of Nuthatches, Steve. The Pygmy is an excellent image. And the Red-breasted is nice as well. As least you have him turned part way around. Most of my Red-breasted shots turn out to be straight butt shots!
