No and No. Maybe I should reword that. Its not really a household item like you would consider condiments and cleaners, its more of a personal item I guess that you would find in almost every house.

its dirty because its used a lot. It is a consumable (meaning it gets used up, not you eat it though I guess you could ) product.

I sign a lot of legal documents, so I have been using this pen for about 20-years. I have found that they are like good quality Canon lenses that hold their value after a long time, even if they are used. I recently checked the web, and a used Montblanc Meisterstuck with a 14K gold nib will still fetch at least $ 350 US. If it is new and has the size M 14K all-gold nib (ie, not the two-toned nib) it is considered a collector's item and will sell for over $ 500 US. ... Shucks, why did I have to use mine!!! Oh, well. BTW - the rollerball is also quite nice. They stopped selling them, and I had to pay $ 150 to get a used one to match the fountain pen. ... You don't sign multi-part documents (carbon-copy type docs) with a fountain pen!!! Here's another shot at 2:1 magnification I was going to use, but I thought it would be even easier to guess, so I went with the first. The engraving on the nib is exquisite, but it would definitely be obvious to anybody who has seen this before. At 2:1, the ink looks a bit yucky.
