Okay, not a butterfly, but I have to give it to SOMEONE. But I'm torn between FuryMe and Andrew. It's a MOTH...so I'm gonna give it to Andrew, but FuryMe was VERY close on several guesses (insects). And I don't know anything about insects, but this was the biggest, hairiest moth I've ever seen. And YES, it was this color! A couple kids pointed it out to me while walking my dog. Here's the full picture. Great job everyone. Andrew, you're up.

You guessed a couple insects (spider and caterpillar) that were close, but I just thought "butterfly" was technically a bit closer. But you certainly deserve it...you were firing away there! All I can tell you is that it's a moth. I don't know anything about these things, I was just in the right place at the right time and had a camera with me. But it was seriously HUGE...about 5" or 6" wingspan, and very furry, just like you see in the image. I did slightly increase the saturation of the colors, but not really by that much. That's pretty much how I saw it. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable about these things might know. I live in Leesburg, VA (about 40 miles west of Washington, D.C.) if that helps ID the moth for anyone. Personally, I never knew that moths could be this furry. But now we know!

EXACTLY...that's what's so freaky about it. You almost want to pet it. Again, I don't know much about these critters, but that's why I thought it would be good for the macro game, because I personally would NEVER have associated what appeared to be obviously HAIR or fur, with an insect.
