The rules are simple. Someone posts a super macro photo and the rest have to guess what it is. Whoever guesses first has to post another photo and so it goes on.

I'll start things off with an easy one. :D

nb. pbase is being funny again! Here's the link if you can't see the photo: http://www.pbase.com/image/45335228

A new thread was started by the MODS as
The super macro guessing game (2)

Lawrie B
22nd of October 2007 (Mon), 08:06
OK since no one has added another guess for 10 hours
here is what we have guessed so far:
Screwdriver
Cable
A handle or knob
Grip of a pen
Knife steel
corrugated fastener
A lid, like toothpaste or glue or some such?
some type of plant stem
spline used to hold screen in the frame?
Windshield wiper blade?
tubing or a connector for tubing
part of a medicine machine. The one that pumps the juice
Blower tube
The rod to window blinds?
a sippy cup straw.
Plastic column on a wedding cake?
top to a condiment container
Part of a lock?
Plastic thingy for rolling film up on during developing?
a nebulizer (breathing treatment) container?
Rock tumbler?
part of a fish tank filter.

All of these are good guesses, but none are near it.

So here is the correct parts,
It is clear plastic,
part of it is a tube,

The clues so far have been
It is larger than a fish tank filter
It has a green top and Yellow base
The 3 photos are different parts of it
Photo #1 goes between #2 and #3

The New clue for tonight is think of children especially boys.

Not a write protect switch. I'm not really looking for what the part is, but what it belongs to. The curve to the left should be a clue. This is old technology, btw, but being used in a fairly recent device.

This item comes in 4 sizes that I know of, rather big, kinda small, small, and really tiny. These items have been around since the 70's and were very common in the 80's and 90's. They're not so common anymore, but have certain uses that keep them easy to obtain.

(edit) Bonus points for getting the specific type of item this is.

Was it?

Hmm, he said not a video cassette... I'll let you fight amongst yourselves for who gets to post next...

But, yes. In particular, a Hi-8 video cassette, used in my Digital8 camcorder (which can hook up to the computer via USB or firewire)
