Ahhhhhh, That felt good. I bought warm jackets and toys galore. Already dropped the jackets off where our valley has a "Coats for Kids" drive every year and tomorrow the toys will all get unloaded to our local fire station for Toys for Tots. Food Link and Visalia Rescue Mission each got money to feed families over the holidays. Even tho my pocketbook is $700 lighter, I feel amazing!!

A zillion years ago I used to be a news photog. The Angels (MLB) just won the pennant for their first time. The crowds went nuts ... running all over the field, running the bases ... some were even digging up the bases. Then the Anaheim Police went nuts and started using chemical sprays on 11 y/o kids running the bases.

I shot the game, shot the crowd going nuts, shot the cops going nuts and I was on my way out of the stadium when I caught some movement out of the corner of my eye. I turn and see that an AP photog is getting his face pushed into the concrete tunnel wall. I shot his arrest from above ... then as they were hauling him off I ran and got ahead of the them and ripped off a few more snaps. A security jerk put his hand out to block my camera (photo) then I turned to get away and cops nabbed me from behind.

Went to trial ... I was found innocent. Pissed off Anaheim Police again in court when I called a cop that was testifing a lying S-O-B and that he should be ashamed of himself. Anaheim Police dropped the case against the AP guy.

Camera is on a tripod, I"m in the back row, green shirt next to my blonde bride with her face hiding. :)

Had my uncle's brother-in-law (not really family) press the remote. 24mm prime 1/125 @ f/8.0 with built in camera flash on the 40D (Tina wouldn't let me run to the car for the flash). ISO 1000. Back row is standing on chairs with everyone else jammed in between the two rows. We took four shots and told everyone that if they couldn't see the camera they wouldn't be in the picture. Focus is on the name tag of the woman in the striped shirt in the centre of the front row.

I did have to cut and paste a few faces and heads. The kid in front was a problem in all four shots - him and his brother are both a pain for the whole day every year. I think they drink every ounce of soda pop and eat every candy in the place then bounce around on a sugar high. :)

This thing is a HUGE amount of work. My brother and the older cousins are trying to pass it off on me and the cousins my age (we kind of have 3 generations in one). I've always helped but this year spent the whole day working from 5:30 AM until 9:30 PM but honestly it's worth the effort. Anbody coming before 2:30 brings an appetizer and those that come after bring a dessert. We start preparing gnocchi (kind of like a pasta) at about 1:00 then socialize, cook and eat dinner, have a kid's talent show, clean up and head home. I wouldn't miss this for the world.

I'm sure the ISO 1000 helped a lot. :) Just remember to take a bunch of shots so you can replace the faces on people with closed eyes and turned heads.
