Here's the challenge... You have $2000 US to purchase any camera equipment you want. You also have a 6 month old $1200 computer with image editing software and a $200 color photo printer (8.5x11 max print size)

What equipment would you buy to maximize your photography income potential?? Another assumption is that you have your current photo skills, but NO photo equipment (maybe a tornado or something happened... I don't really care)

Let's see your strategies and why...

i guess a camera body is a must, otherwise you can't even start taking pictures, then a decent lens would be nice and a must too, can't imagine take any photo with just a body, and for those two, i think $2000 just about to cover it if not more

You've waited this long, wait a bit longer for an alleged, much anticipated 10D replacement. If you have to have a camera now, get a 10D.

Invest it in the stock market and wait untill it's at least $3K, then start thinking about equipment. 2K won't get you much.

Stock market will be a real tough play until after the election. Yet another reason to wait for this fall's announcements.

Sorry Andy, I thought you already have a camera body.

Look at it this way. A 100-400 is about $1,600.

You need a serious upturn in the stock market to allow you to buy good equipment. Then you will start earning income from photography.

Sorry to deflate your tire.

I love to visit BH site
Unfortunately they don't ship to Brazil

Let's see...

$1060 - 300D with 18-55 lens & 1GB Lexar CF
$75 - 50mm f/1.8
$550 - 70-200 f/4 L
$170 - 420EX flash
$55 - BP511 spare battery
$90 - Manfrotto 719B
Total - $2000

Not so bad, I even managed to include one Lens!

A distant 2nd choice would be

$1470 - 10D w/ Hitachi 2GB microdrive & card adapter
$675 - 17-40 f/4 L
Total - $2145

I know, I know, it's more than $2K but it's worth it

My $.02.

If $2,000.00 is the limit?

Then
1: A Digital Rebel with the Kit lens..
2: and a 70-200mm f/4L
3: and a 50mm f/1.8
4: and a half decent tripod like the Manfrotto 2001Dpro. (about $100.00)
