Yep the wedding i did friday just gone was a success! :D

Unfortunatly there was a few hick-ups along the way such as, the mother of the bride is alergic to pepper and had previously requested that there could be no pepper in the meal. Unfortunatly we had a soup and there was pepper init. She nearly collasped there and then. She was rushed outside and an ambulance was called. so the dinner was delayed by about an hour and a half. She was fine but wasnt the same for the rest of the night. Secondly when the groom made his speech he cried for about 95% of it. It was very emotional too. His father had died a year ago and his 'to be' (at the time) best man (his brother) died 2 months ago. Thankfully is best mate and best man on the day made a great speech and it was very funny!! :)

As for the photograpghy its very hard to be in control of about 150 people and deciding what to do and be assertive all the time. My flaws that i could make out at the end of the day were that i wasnt vocal enough when getting them to smile. I kind of left them to there own devices. They knew what to do but i could of gotten them more involved.

Also there was all the other people trying to get them to look at there cameras and i was trying to get there attention mainly but it was difficult at times.

And lastly the group photo was hard enough due to the lack of a suitable location and in the end it was taken in front of the Hotel on the red carpet on the stairs. That way i had different levels for the different hieghts. but it wasnt the easiest to organise either!!

All in all i took around 250 pics and my mate took as many. Hopfully things work out when putting this album together! fingers crossed!

cheers

Congrats Philip.
Sounds like you learned a lot and that's what counts.
I agree, it's hard take command of a croud, particularly when it's excitable like a wedding croud.
Looking forward to seeing some shots when you post them.

Ray.
(and now a nearly new 75-300 in the kit) : :)

I've been tempted to use a police whistle and a bullwhip to get their attention.

Don't confuse the ethnic or national origin of the bride's family with the ethnic or national origin of the groom's family.

We did a wedding recently, and the groom was Spanish, and the bride was Croat. My partner had the groom's family all lined up for a group shot, and he kept saying something like "Let me see that big Croatian smile!" Of course, they just stared at him oddly. I kicked my partner until he realized that something was wrong.
