View Full Version : Did I save 'em? A day at the pumpkin farm.

Went to the pumpkin farm with my family and some friends. What a gorgeous day!! Well, I was reviewing pictures after we left and realized I had my ISO set to 1600!!! I was playing around with my camera the night before and forgot to set it back (I'm usually really good about this kinda stuff, too).

How did this set turn out? I tried to reduce the noise in Photoshop 7.0 as much as possible by first changing the mode to Lab then cleaning up the A and B channel with Noise > Median, then sharpening the lighness channel.

Any feedback on the pictures themselves (beyond the noise issue unless you have some thoughts there) would be welcome.

Thanks for looking.

All shot with a Rebel XT with a 50mm f/1.4 in aperture priority mode.

I don't see hardly any noise..maybe in the photo of the woman in the green shirt...slightly, but that's about it. 100% crops? I am a noiseaphobe as well though! lol

I'll post some 100% crops tonight, although I'm a little scared to look

I might try to print one and see what happens.

Good call on #2. I should clean up the busy background by cloning stuff out or changing the colors. Same goes for the guy behind the tractor.

You'll only have a noise problem if you're trying to print 24x36 and look at the print closely.

High iso in good light will yield pretty good results compared to low light and high iso.

I got freaked when I pulled off #5 and saw tons of noise in the shadow. My first thought was, "great, I blew 'em all". I think I did a reasonable job getting rid of most of the noise. I should post one straight off the camera. Also, I hear a lot about Noise Ninja. What does that do that I can't do manually in photoshop? I'm reluctant to buy it because noise isn't usually a problem.
