I can get a non USA Camera for $3,000.00 dollars cheaper than a USA Camera. I believe the manual is in another language but it comes with all the other standard extras, battery, charger, cabels ect.

With either camera (USA or non) check on what warranty you get, or if there is any at all.

If the manual was the only thing you would have no problem. You can down load a PDF (electronic) version of the 1Ds manual from the canon web site.

But I would worry about the warenty. That is one major reason I made sure I got a USA version. That and getting all the parts that comes in a "real" box set. So many of the "good deals" you only get the camera body, no batteries, no charger no straps.

Also might ask if the menus have all the different language. Based on my 1Ds you get English, Deutsch, Francais, Espanol and some funny character (Japanees  ).

I called today and found out that the camera body is all you get. for 4,500.00 dollars.

So it looks like I'll have to get a 1D Mark II, because I don't have $7,000.00 dollars to spare. I'm very fortunate that my wife is agreeing to my $5,000.00 dollars budget.

I't doesn't seem that long ago that I got my 30D, and I can rememer how excited I was at the time, then 30 days later the 60D came out and my $3,000.00 dollar camera instantly became outdated. But the good news is that I have made alot of money with it and paid for it many times over.

Thanks for your input.

What is a 30D and what is a 60D?
