View Full Version : Trying to get my head round focus stacking

Well with my 50mm macro lens i can get half decent shots..these pics where form a 5 shot stack..at fstop 8,shutter speed 180 as im using my nikon d50 which i hate but it wil have to do til i can get another anon 400D...i used sigma 50mm macro lens and sigma macro ring flash on -2.

the trouble im having is understanding the relining tool..i find some stuff hard to understand and i tryed today by copying lordvs thread but it come out rubish..stacking past 1:1 is inposiabll it seems.for me any way. heres 2 i just done..like i said i havent relined any thing. its been stacked from 5 pics then sharpened to unsharp mask 100-1-1 that was it..no other editing took place.back to the drawing board..the hole reson i want to stack is for the mpe-65 but dam its hard..:(..il try again tho later..

Well they all worked pretty well. Think there are some OOF bands in the BG in the shots but the mantid looks good.
BTW you shouldn't need to sharpen after using czm - it does the sharpening for you.

i would try to photoshop out those un focused spots in the last image. shouldn't be hard to do at all. i find its better to take more shots needed for stacks than u think. just in case you miss a spot with only a few shots.

they all looks good to me MJ. at least you got cmz to work. i still can't get the thing running right :evil::evil::evil::evil::evil:

how comes..u using a pc?.,have u uninstalled? then make sure every combine document is delted in program files then reinstall..or have u done this allready?whats not working?
