Under talks <about photograpy> I posted a topic about Zoombrowser
some days ago.
Did not get a single reaction.
When I post a topic on the Dutch VWForum I almost immediately get several replies.
Therefore I do not think that I will stay a forum member here for long

stephenvandyke, if you can keep that guy on the left from dancing, we might allow you to stay here.

I don't think ANYONE is using Zoombrowser any more. Breezebrowser, Photoshop, Capture One or other third party software has taken over it completely. That is perhaps why you did not get any answers. Sorry!
You are welcome here anytime.
Cheers,

You are right as far as my status is concerned, but I do have a lot of software and use the majority of them.
Always in for a good programme if it offers me any features.
Although I 'm not interested to always have the newest versions.

If you mean the EXIF information (camera, lens focal length, aperture, shutter speed, . . . ), that's a standard - almost any image handling program will show you that from Windows XP's Explorer file properties through IrfanView, to Paint Shop Pro and PhotoShop. As some of these are manufacturer's extensions, the independent s/w makers are always playing catch-up, but they do have the important stuff. There are also some dedicated EXIF readers out there.

That would be incorrect.
Zoombrowser works fine, and I have never had any need for expensive third party software.

I still use it. :? All I do with it is download the pictures from the camera and then I do all of the editing in Photoshop.

Zoombrowser has two big advantages for me.
(1) It does everything I need it to do.
(2) It's free. --- I'm cheap.

Mark me down as user #6.
It works fine for me. I'm still on PS6, and not ready to buy new software.
I haven't figured out how to use my camera yet. :)

Thank you for the information from which I have learned something new.
Using Photoshop, PaintShopPro and ACDsee by choosing acquire the camera window pops up and I can choose extensive details.
This shows what appears to be the EXIF information.
But when the photo is downloaded I cannot get access to these details.
Not by Windows Explorer XP and not even by Zoombrowser,by the programs themselves neither.
Of course my Windows is in Dutch, but may be you can explain the
procedure somewhat more.
I searched extensively but cannot find what I want.

I would like to thank everybody for being so kind to react to my Zoombrowser topic.
However from you who are using Zoombrowser too I didnot get
an answer to what I asked really.
May be I am too demanding.
Unless I as yet can get access to the EXIF information an other way
I will stick to Zoombrowser.
Since I do not like V4.0 I will uninstall this, install V2.0 and the update
to V 3.0.
And I will stay a member though I will also take a look at a Dutch forum on DigitalCameras.

After this message I downloaded the freeware ExifReader.
I became a member of the Dutch forum and posted my questions.
Immediately I got two replies.
One was not quite clear so I asked for more information.
The concerning member was a man of few words so on first sight I thought what does he mean.
Then the light broke through. Windows XP offers more functionality then I knew.
In Explorer appears Canon Powershot A30 as an extra drive.
From there you can drag the files on the camera card to any folder you like.
With Explorer Options the Exif details are shown.
But with no information about the flash.
However opening the files in ExifReader gives full details about the flash and even a lot more than Zoombrowser which indeed is
superfluous now.
So the combination of both this and the Dutch forum did learn me a lot.
I just go and see whether the forum overhere does accept my dancing banana which will make me even more happier

Why is it always the guy with less than 10 posts that complains about a forum? No matter what the forum it, never fails.

There is no reply from you though?
And not the number of posts counts but the quality.

You did not ask any question, so that may explain the lack of an answer. If nobody understands your comment, or if they can't repeat it, then that may explain the lack of any reply at all.

As Bob said... your thread was more like a comment than a question and with a title like apearance of Zoombrowser 4.0.2.112 rather pale where a very specific version of a soft is used and the thread-name doesn't state a question either, a lot of people won't even look in the thread...
It's like the books... people often buy books because of the title...

In Explorer (WinXP), there is actually some information about the flash. In fact, most (if not all) of the EXIF info is there. Simply right-click on any JPEG file, select Properties --> Summary --> Advanced.
Myself, I don't use Zoombrowser because I find that Explorer is enough for my needs.

As to the last three replies my impression is that the amount of topics here is very high.
That might be a reason for not hearing anything.
It is only since a few weeks that I have something to do with forums but what I understand is that the members are there to help each other where possible.
From top posters like some of you one might expect that they take a look at each topic and if something is not clear (I stated that my English was
doubtful) they would asked for more info.
Or simply reply that actually nobody is using Zoombrowser anymore.
Simple though?
No I first must express my disappontment about the matter, which
in my opinion could have been avoided.

Flash is mentioned, but not no details are given, I checked it once again.
Then do download ExifRead3.0 freeware very small file and see the difference.

I thought your reaction to not getting any responses was a little agressive.
I have been in that situation myself, and often the best way is to be light hearted, and simply reply to your own message and ask again, then somebody will respond.
That could have perhaps avoided this 'situation'.
Only a suggestion from another new member.
Welcome to the forum, I recommend you stick around as the people here are generally incredibly helpful and well informed, and don't forget.... it's free!

You are mistaken here. Obviously your expectations of how Internet forums work is different from how they actually work.
People on forums like these are all fellow photographers, who take the time to read and answer questions just for fun, because they like to discuss photography with other people with the same interests. Nobody is getting paid or has any obligation in any way to answer questions, also not "Top Contributors". You simply can't expect to get an answer and be disappointed if you don't get any. You are right, people are here to help each other where possible, but nobody has any obligation here.
You cannot claim to have the right to get an answer in a forum supported by volunteers. You're not talking to the support department of a company here, that you've bought a product from and can expect to get support from. Look at the text at the bottom of the page:
"This forum is not affiliated with Canon in any way and is ran as a free user helpsite by Pekka Saarinen, Helsinki Finland."
There are no people from Canon here that are going to answer your question officially.
If nobody answers your question, it doesn't mean anybody thinks you or your question are stupid, that the other people on the forum are stupid or anything like that. It simply means that people probably don't recognize your problem and don't know an answer.
I am not using ZoomBrowser so I don't know an answer to your question. It would not have been any help if I would have answered "Sorry, I don't know" to your question.
See also my answer in your original post (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=39532).
